The Port is governed by a three member Board of Port Commissioners elected by the public, to a six-year term. The Board establishes policies under which the Port's staff - supervised by the Executive Director - conducts its daily operations.
These three elected officials are responsible for:
representing public interests
setting port policy
determining program direction
setting long and short range goals
approving the annual budget; and
assisting with leadership development of the organization.
The Port of Shelton Commission holds meetings on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 2:00pm in the Commission Chambers located at the Port of Shelton Administrative Offices, 21 West Sanderson Way, Shelton, WA 98584.
The public is encouraged and welcome to attend.

Thomas M. “Tom” Wallitner was born and raised in Washington, served in the Marine Corps and has been married since 1960. He has four adult children, 12 grandchildren and has been a business owner in Shelton since 1971.
He has 43 years experience in aviation, including 30 years as an airline pilot. Tom has been a labor negotiator and Professional Standards Chairman for the Airline Pilots Association.
He is active in real estate development and was an airport manager in Eastern Washington. He is currently the co-chairman of the Capital Campaign for St. Edwards’s Catholic Church.

Dick Taylor
spent 34 years in the US Navy, during his career he advanced from Seaman
Recruit (E 1) to Commander (05). Most of Dick’s career was spent in
diesel submarines and manned deep submersibles. He is qualified in
submarines, qualified for command of diesel submarines, and qualified as
a deep submergence pilot. Dick spent several years serving as the United
States National Representative to the Commander of the Northeast
Mediterranean in Ankara, Turkey. He also served as undersea systems
officer on the staff of the US Navy Office of Naval Research European
Office in London, UK.
After retiring from the Navy Dick graduated University of Washington with
a BA in Liberal Studies/International Studies and in 2007 was awarded a
Master of Business Administration with a concentration in Operations
Management from American InterContinental University. He has worked as a
real-estate sales agent, served as executive director of a chamber of
commerce, executive director of a not-for- profit firm that provided
services to developmentally disabled adults, was the project manager of a
civilian submarine construction program, and served 6 years as City of
Shelton’s Commissioner of Finance. He is currently licensed as an
insurance agent working with his wife, Marlene, in Taylor Insurance
Agency, LLC.

Jay Hupp graduated from Centralia High School and attended Brigham Young University.
After receiving his under graduate degree, he spent 20 years on active military duty as a Naval Aviator.
He graduated from The U.S. Naval War College, obtained an MBA from Pepperdine University and taught Human Resources and Organizational Management as an Associate Professor for the University of Alaska for three years.
Jay retired from the Navy in 1981. He started a small publishing business in Shelton, Washington
He has served on the Mason County Planning Commission, the Shorelines Advisory Board and was active in Rotary until becoming immersed in economic development work for the past 18 years.
Jay served as the Assistant Director for the Economic Development Council of Mason County from 1991 to 2005.
