I was born and raised in Southern California on the beach at Huntington Beach. I have a life long love of salt water and boating. My work career has gone from construction (Wood Wire and Metal Lather) to the Fire Service. I was retired from the City of Westminster Calif. Fire Dept.in the “70’s”. My wife and I turned our hobby of showing purebred dogs for fun into our business. We established a grooming and boarding kennel and started showing and caring for dogs of all breeds. As a member of a professional group of dog handlers I worked as a field representative. I have been a Delegate to the American Kennel Club legislative body for the past several years. During our many miles of travel we fell in love with the Northwest and moved to Shelton in 1984. Yes with our love of the water we bought property on Hammersley Inlet and with the help of an ambitious young man have established a clam and oyster farm. This has made it possible for me to retire again. Now I no longer show dogs but have moved into the realm of dog judge. My wife and I travel around the world extensively doing the thing we love together. In July of 2007 we celebrated our 51st anniversary. Jack Miles

Born September 1971 Rockford, Illinois.Grew up in San Diego CA.Graduated in 1990 San Diego HS. Marine Corp in 1990Achieved rank of corporal and while in the Marine Corp. I worked as a legal assistant in the office of the Staff Judge Advocate in the Criminal Investigations Division; which led me in travels after the Gulf War to Okinawa, Japan.After the Corp, I spent most of my adult life in radio and television broadcasting, while a broadcaster in Arizona I did sports play by play for the Yavapai College Rough Riders and high school football for the Bradshaw Mountain Bears on the local television station. In radio, I’ve been a news anchor and reporter, I’ve also done sports play by play and have been a disc jockey at various radio stations in Arizona, California and Washington.Currently I am a volunteer firefighter with Mason Co. Fire Protection District 5.I am currently working on my Emergency Medical Technician classes where I hope to be certified through Washington State soon.I have served as your Port Commissioner since January of 2006. Jay Hupp

In a broad view of who Jay Hupp is, his roots are in Southwestern Washington. He graduated from Centralia High School and went on to Brigham Young University for his Undergraduate Degree. He then spent 20 years on active military duty as a Naval Aviator. During that career span he also graduated from The U.S. Naval War College, obtained an MBA from Pepperdine University and taught Human Resources and Organizational Management as an Associate Professor for the University of Alaska for three years. After retiring from the Navy in 1981, he started a small publishing business in Shelton, Washington and served on the Mason County Planning Commission, the Shorelines Advisory Board and was active in Rotary until becoming immersed in economic development work for the past 18 years.
